as usual, lately, i haven't posted in awhile. life just gets so crazy sometimes. the kids are all settled in goldendale and i haven't found any toys or anything in over a week now. i miss them so much. kennedy became such a huge part of our daily routine and so many things still remind me of her. i've seen her a few times and she keeps growing and changing whether i am watching or not. the kids have made new friends in school, jeremy is doing well at his new job. i just can't seem to get back into the "before the kids moved in" routine. i am working more.......the office work seems overwhelming at times--so much to learn. seems everyone has more faith in me than i do. and then there are the puppies. zena and sparky blessed us with 7 (yes 7) little bostons on jan. 26th. they are eating and barking and pooping and demanding attention.........lol. most of them are spoken for........one is going to alaska!!!! and one to the canadian border. hard for me to believe. the first showing is this weekend and i'm kinda nervous......lol. i want them all to have really good homes. they are just so swet and lovable. 3 1/2 weeks ago they were just little blobs.....now they have personalities, we have bubbles, teeny butt, whitey, tyler, bad, squirt and whiney.............lol. well it's feeding time again. hopefully i will find time to post again soon

jUST ASK MY HUSBAND.......NO WAY COULD ANYONE THINK OF HIM AS A SISSY BUT HE HAS ABOUT REACHED HIS LIMIT WITH ALL THE HOT FLASHES, NIGHT SWEATS, MOOD SWINGS................OH LORD THE MOOD SWINGS............*SIGH*
GOOD THING HE LOVES ME. WE are on the downhill side of this thing i'm sure.......i hope...........i BETTER be!!! it's been almost 3 months since my last period and altho everyone tells me i probably will start again i am hoping they could be wrong.............i'm taking some herbal day and night time and it does seem to help alot...........but i do have my moments of pure evil...........i remind myself of the girl in the exorcist...........lol. i have booked april 21st at the eagles for my surprise 50th birthday party. i want one, i deserve one and i'm gonna have one.
i still have a houseful of people.......5 extras.............but probably not for much longer. things are a changing.
i've been spending time at my dd's house. that has always been a hard relationship for us both, but maybe we are getting closer. her children are absolutely adorable and i enjoy spending time with them. we've invited them(dd and sil--not grandbabies) down to the eagles with us a couple times and had a really exceptional time.
as you get older, your kids grow up too and it's much easier to like them when you aren't butting heads with them. and you can get even with them by spoiling the grandkids rotten.........lol. sometimes life is fair--you just have to wait
i've been quiet here, on all my lists, haven't touched my "sticks" in 2 weeks or so....................i'm in a pondering phase....looking around and taking stock of life...................my life...the good the bad.............there are things i wished i had done differently and the things i wouldn't change for the world. somehow, if you put them on an imaginery scale they seem to balance out perfectly. i have learned that there are a few truths about myself that i can admit with pride
i am a much better mother than mine............(so is attilla the hun but still)
i am a great grandmother...........almost as good as mine was
i have the ability to love more than i ever thought possible
until the day i die i will think jeff has a great ass
i am amazed at how proud i can be of my children
being a grandma is the best thing i have ever done and i love it the most
i'm a hellacious bartender...........not a glamour job but damn i'm good
i have acquired the ability to accept things i never thought i could

i am a great sister to one brother and not so good to the other brother
i can take care of myself but i'd rather not

SO MUCH GOING ON AROUND HERE..................

i have been fighting(and losing) a horrible cold for over a week. and no end in sight. i MIGHT be coughing a bit less but i still am not sleeping well and feel awful. i am sure i remember having a cold for a day or two and bouncing back right away...............not so anymore. i may be getting old.........lol............don't tell brenda i admitted to that.
i am tired. 3 grandbabies living here and they all love and adore me as much i do them......but they really don't understand when grandma is sick and can't play like she is supposed to. i try but i got cranky with nene today. i even gave her money to take a nap so i could get some rest..........lol. that is so bad. bad grandma!!! they have all had their baths and 2 will be in bed soon for school tomorrow. jeremy and heather have been trying to keep nene entertained but she NEEDS papa and namma. lol.
my brother (buck-i'm the only one who can call him that) called tonight. he calls often and i call him often. but i could tell in his voice there was bad news coming but he did his best to put it off. my brother and i were not raised together......in fact he didn't know i existed until he was 16. i was 18 when i decided to find my dad. 19 when i got to meet him as an adult and i had the chance to let him know jeremy, his first grandson. i spent a wonderful 3 months in arkansas with my dad, brother and "the aunts". whenever i say or hear "the aunts" it makes me smile. they are a collective..........3 in one or 1 in 3.............none of us has ever decided that one for sure. but they are the matriarchs of the family. 3 of the sweetest,kindest, most loving people i have ever had the good fortune to meet. the oldest, aunt oleta, was the oldest daughter, younger than my dad. i took my 4 kids back there about 14 years ago and i have gone back a couple other times. when i was there it was a huge deal!!!! the aunts paid for the hotel room, my brothers boss gave him a van. the cousins provided meals and entertainment..........i love it there and so wanted to stay. but that's another story for another time. aunt oleta made sure i had something of my grandmothers. i am the oldest grandchild but because of circumstances i never got the pleasure of what comes with that. some might say i was a secret. they all knew about me but when my mom left my dad not much more was ever said to anyone except the aunts. they and my dad tried to keep in contact and my dad tried to get custody but back then he didn't have a chance. our grandmother died at 30 (right after giving birth to her 4th child) and her oldest, my dad, died at 42. both from cancer. i lived most of my life never expecting to live this long. ok, anyway, back to the reason my brother called. he told me not to be mad at him for not calling sooner but "they" just called him tonight. when i asked who exactly "they" were, he said aunt phyllis (the second daughter).( back to that "aunt collective hive deal). my aunt oleta is not well. it looks like pancreactic cancer. more test results will be in on monday. but it doesn't look good. she's somewhere between 65 and 70....noone is allowed to know her real age...lol. i'm not dealing so well with this news. so in my ever confusing, non-rational way of dealing with things i don't want to deal with i took everyones blood pressure. they are all good. noone complained, argued or actually said anything-- just stuck out their arm and went with it. i don't have to make sense to any of them, i just am. although they all want to pick my "home" when the time comes. i shouldn't make fun, they do love me and when my mind goes i know they will take care of me whether i will be able to realize it or not. little heather has promised me a basement full of tequila. i really love that child.
i've decided not to take the job offer that came my way last week. and that's another story for another time. now i'm tired, cranky, sad and i think i'll just cry for awhile

AND LIFE GOES ON

since i started my new part time job my foot has been hurting. and swelling. every week it got a little worse. i finally made an appointment with the doc after getting tired of limping around and hurting so much. well she thought maybe i had broken a bone or possibly i had a blood clot.........those were the same things i had thought were probably the problem. so i had x-rays............to both our surprise it was neither of those things but a condition called morton's neuroma. it's a cyst that grows around the nerves and muscles at the base of 2 toes. for 6 weeks i am in a cast/boot. then i go to a podiatrist, cortisone shots, an orthotic ( i don't think i spelled that right) and who knows. i'm thinking my days working on my feet may be numbered.

the kids went out of town for the holiday and it is soooooooooooooooooo quiet without all my babies here.
jeremy passed his board and is hopeful he will have his own store in a couple weeks. whenever that hapens they will move and they plan to take my grandbabies with them. HMPH..............can you imagine the nerve?????

tomorrow i am taking heather shopping for school for the last time. school starts tuesday.

hannah just turned 8. my first grandbaby and she still has a special place with grandma's heart. we got her an outfit and she just loved it. wore it the next day........lol. she is such a sweet child. i will miss them all so much when they move.

once again, days have past.....i just don't know where the time goes.

it just amazes me how many days can go by without getting on here to post. these grands sure keep me hopping. but i sure am having a blast. so lets see what has been going on around here.
i ran some elastic thread thru kennedy's little halter top, finished hannah's halter. both will get washed tomorrow so i will get pictures. it feels good to get something done. i have so many things going that i haven't felt like i accomplished anything this month. i finished a skirt for a CAL for little heather for school. final fitting hopefully will be tonight or tomorrow. i have a sleeping bag yet to finishe and a dress for kennedy i started forever ago so those will be my next 2 projects............unless i have to start something else........lol.........and one jsut never knows about those kinds of things. hopefully i will have some pictures to show off tomorrow

NENE TIME

as you can probably tell i don't get much done anywhere anymore. i have 3 grandkids, their mom and dad living with us for awhile. kennedy (nene) is the baby and a grandma's girl. from the time she wakes up until bedtime she is where nana is. if i go, she goes. if i do laundry or dishes she has to "help" --sometimes nene helping takes things at least 3 times longer.......lol. she is 2 and at that age where she repeats everything and learns something everyday. we have "word of the day" for her......today it was "me too". she steals crochet hooks, pulls knitting needles out, hides yarn and thinks everything i make is for her. she loves to play "crocheting". she runs when papa gets home and squeals as he throws her up in the air. she has to put ice cube in his glass. he has to ask her if he can have a lemon or a lime..........if he "cries" she lets him but usually she tells him no. he taught her -super nene- which looks alot like the hulk. and to disco dance. i taught her to shake her tail feathers............a song from chicken little. she dances and sings and goes 90 miles an hour all day. jeff told me tonight she is just like me. lol. i said, i know she has my eyes. he said no, she is a little you.....bad. lol..........it is true..i see so much of me in her. she can tell you to ____________ with a look. little heather named that look KID VICIOUS. i'm not sure who that is but it is a mean look. i need to run some elastic thru the sides of her halter, finish her sisters, finish their moms ruffled top. a sleeping bag for a bear is about half done. i have about 8 inches on a lacy jumper for kennedy and a crocheted skirt for heather going. i get a row or two done everyday but that's about it

ANYONE REMEMBER ME?

i used to blog here regularly.........lol..............now i have babies to chase and spoil and i am doing my best. being grandma is the truly the best thing that could ever happen to a person. kennedy (nene) is absolutely grandma's girl and rotten!! i've started calling her rotten rotten and of course she tells me i am rotten rotten--it is just too cute. we sing i love you, a bushel and a peck, a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck-- does anyone know the rest of the words to that?. it is soooooooooo cute! and we play cha cha cha thru the house. peek a boo, itsy bitsy spider, my version of fe fi fo fum...........and a zillion other things. she makes me laugh- i make her giggle. she is a very good eater and when she is done will take all the good stuff off your plate. she was feeding me chili tonight with a fork--one bite for me and 2 for her. lol. she did a good job and promised to feed me when i am old. loves corn on the cob. has to go everywhere with me. life couldn't be better. then there is caden--he's almost 6 and he is so smart. he thinks things out. he has my crochet/knitting projects on a schedule and he checks to make sure i am where he thinks i should be.....lol........i need to go faster to keep up. he wants me to teach him to knit. this boy goes a zillion miles an hour from the second he gets up until he finally goes to sleep but he will sit and watch me crochet or knit..he is much more intrigued with the knitting tho. when it is his turn again for a project he wants a sleeping bag for his beloved bear-stoffie-. he took the tape measure and told me how big it should be and picked out the yarn and colors. i am so impressed with him. and then there is hannah---a child couldn't be any better. she is beautiful, smart, loving.......such a treasure. i love when she reads to me and when we get a few minutes just to ourselves. she is a little mother. always concerned about everyone else. i am a very lucky grandma. they won't be here too long and the possibility of them moving far is high. jeff told me when they get ready to move he sees 2 problems--me and nene--lol. i think he is right. it will be sooooooooo hard when they go. i plan to love every minute to the fullest that i can.

how do you spell stupid?
today i spell it s-a-r-a. my son, his wife and my 3 grandbabies will be moving in here by friday for a month or two. he will be an assistant manager for les schwab soon but he doesn't know where and of course their house went before they were ready. i am a pack rat- jeff and heather are pack rats. i have spent a week cleaning out just my stash room.it was an absolute mess! i would be embarrassed to have norah and goldi come play in my stash. but that room is clean and ready for 2 of the babies. the closet is packed to the brim with rubbermaid but it will work. jeff and i will be moving out of our room into the family room. the family room used to be a 2 car garage so that gives you an idea of size. it has the door to the fenced back yard for dog access. we have a weight machine, 2 computers with large desks, one recliner, one swivel rocker, one huge hide a bed couch, a large tv and a half bath...all jeff's computer parts and a ton of stuff from my stash room at the moment..............somehow we need to make room for our bed and 2 dressers out here. right.................. *sigh*......since there is no closet out here we will use the coat closet.............which is full of....you guessed it....winter coats, hats, raingear, boots,etc. so all that has to be moved. *big sigh*. the kids are bringing their freezer over and it has to go on the back porch...can you say trailer trash........lol. no worries i have two days. oh yeah the stupid part........i was reall y craving a seafood salad tonight ( it's been way over 100 for a few days) so i ran to the store. in 106 degree heat........stupid..........jeff had burritos and heather had soup.............they are nuts!!!!!!! anyway i didn't know heather had made her soup, i went in the kitchen, took the top off my salad, went to pick it up, put my finger UNDER the burner she had just turned off. OUCH!! my right index finger. and i have all this stuff to do and it's a huge blister and it hurts.........lol. can't type , can't knit or crochet. my life is over...........lol

halfway thru

i had a revelation tonight......they don't come very often so when they do i am always impressed with myself.......as i am working on a second sock, and i start the gussett i realize i am halfway through. turning the heel is my favorite part of socks..i love those little short rows and the little cup it makes.........i know i am easily amused..........socks are made in three parts: the cuff, the heel, and the toe. alot like life............that was my revelation......life is like socks. let me explain my thoughts. i am 49, somewhere between the heel and toe of my life. past the halfway mark i am sure. the cuff(1-30) is a little tough to get going, you have to pay attention to get it right, whether it's your ABC'S, a relationship or a sock, and sometimes you just have to start over, try again and hope for the best. and its pretty easy, irritating but it's fixable and you go on with alot of time to get to the heel. when you get to the heel (30-60) things seem to get a little easier. you have half as much to deal with..........whether this means your children have grown, you've mastered the basics things in life, maybe grandchildren, you now know yourself, you've probably stopped feeling the need to impress others and your priorities have changed. life insurance means more than a night out on the town. a good night's sleep is more important than staying up all night with your friends.......half the stitches to deal with. this part of your life(sock) seems to fly by. days are taken for granted, security seems to be a given, graduations, babies.......this is the best part of life. starting over here is a little harder, less time to gets things in the perfect row, tougher to change and to accept that changes are happening all around you. harder to admit you made a mistake on row 20 and have to go back and try again. maybe it's your sock or maybe it's your marriage.the next step is the gussett......crazy times....suddenly you have 3 times as much to deal with...........children, careers, grandchildren spending the night, retirement....picking up more than you thought you could at this point. you start to be careful.....eat healthy, see the doc, take your meds, eat right, exercise. you start to pay more attention............you know if you make a mistake here it will really be hard to fix.
then we have the foot (60-?)some people get more rows than others. it could be your needles or the size of your foot or even your yarn. hereditary or self destsruction.no one knows how many rows they get until they reach the toe. ah the toe. the downhill part of life/sock. you can see the end get closer but it's hard to predict exactly when the last stitch will be in. the last breath taken. i hope when i reach the toe of my life i can look back, remember every stitch it took to get there and be happy with my accomplishments.

here's the uncropped version..............a basket of who knows what's in there that needs to be finished, a pile of mags i am keeping........a box of projects to do while my house is overrun....lol..........and my favorite jammies, ac/dc pants..a fan blowing in the background and jeff's shirt that he just threw at me.....BUT the room for the grandkids is ready........(ok i have a trunk of yarn that i need someone with muscles to help me move out of there yet) but it's dusted, vacumed and shampooed. the closet is full to the brim with rubbermaid....lol.......but the babies have a place to sleep
